Introducing ... No Limit City

On Tuesday, 22nd March 2022 Swedish online slots developer, No Limit City, posted an announcement on the news page of their website to say that they had been granted a supplier license for the newly regulated Ontario iGaming market … after ‘extensive eligibility assessments’.

Being big fans of NLC here at The Casino Heat we wondered if the assessment had to be so extensive because those in charge had to decide whether Ontarians were ready for the kind of adult-themed super high-risk gameplay that these bad boys of the industry are know for.

After all they are the studio who recently assailed European gamblers with a torturous and freaky game set in a Victorian asylum – Mental – and regularly hang outlaws, and anyone else they feel like, from creaking gallows in their dark and deadly Tombstone RIP slot. And are about to unleash the twisted, Kenneth Must Die, a sick game featuring Ken and a subverted Barbie with a gag ball in her mouth.

And that’s barely scratching the surface. So, welcome, Canada, to the insane world of No Limit City slots, soon to arrive at a real money online casino near you!

Very occasionally a slot studio comes onto the scene are truly shakes things. Big Time Gaming did it with their Megaways™ engine. And now No Limit City are doing it with their totally off-the-wall game themes, super-high variance maths models and huge potential payouts.

So, when you get a chance, make sure you give one of their online slots a spin. You won’t regret it. And here to help you get started, and by way of an introduction, are FIVE of their best titles to date, with a short review of each to help you understand what to expect.

Once you are done, check out our Canada online slots page for the latest sites where you can play the games for real money.

SAN QUENTIN XWAYS SLOT

Let’s start with this one because it was a game that blew minds where it arrived in 2021. The setting is one of the US’ most notorious prisons, a place where some of the biggest, badest and meanest felons are sent to do time. Surly gangs run things from the inside whilst prison officers do their best to stop things getting out of hand.

San Quentin xWays – Set In the Notorious US Jail

And boy does this game pack a punch! Playing out on a 5 reel by 3 row game grid, initially at least, there are 243 paylines to score wins from. But your payouts are enhanced by the involvement of crew members like Crazy Joe and Biker Bill.

Throughout the game your objective is to enhance your win potential by finding extra paylines by unlocking the Enhancer Cells at the top of the reel set. This gets you Razor Splits that split a reel in two and xWays that split symbols in two.

The ultimate kick though is the Lockdown Spins which come with Jumping Wilds which move around the grid and multipliers of up to 512x. Through this mechanism you can win up to 150,000x in one round – a staggeringly high payout that puts most slots to shame.

BOOK OF SHADOWS

If you are a fan of Book of games like the classic Book of Dead by Play n Go, or Book of Ra by Novomatic, then you will love No Limit City’s superb take on the genre. NLC like to do things differently, so rather than give their game an ancient archaeological theme they made it a horror-slot featuring something that looks like it crawled out of a well in The Ring, or out of the darkness in the Blair Witch Project.

Suitably spooked, you’ll be pleased to find that at least the gameplay is as easy to understand as any other Book of … slot. The aim is to land the Book of Spells Wild / Scatter to unlock the free spins round. Now, one symbol is chosen as an expander during the bonus round. When it lands, it always expands to full height. This makes it possible to fill the screen with premium symbols and trigger the top 30,388x payout.

At this point we should remind you that we know of very few NLC games that have anything other than a super-high-risk game model. Book of Shadows sits right at the top of the scale with a crazy variance level. The RTP is a reasonable 96.1%.

DAS XBOOT

So, we’ve covered mental asylums and witches. What next?! Ok, how about a slot-based on the diaries of a submariner from World War 2 that were made into a famous German film … Das Boot. Why not?

Das xBoot Slot Game

Das xBoot – The First To Be Set In a German Submarine!

NLC have called this one … Das xBoot. And like all others in their catalogue, it’s stacked with features to enhance the gameplay. That is what NLC slots are all about.

There are xNudge Wilds which are 3-high Wild Stacks that nudge up or down until they fill an entire visible reel, increasing their multiplier by 1x with each nudge as they do. Then there are xBomb Wilds which explode to remove all non-winning symbols from the reels and increase your multiplier by 1x. And xWays which split cells in two to increase the win ways.

And lastly … a crazy Free Spins round in which a Torpedo Reel appears under the main set to be filled with Torpedo Wilds. When this happens, the Torpedo Launches to reveal a set of xWays symbols that can push your wins as high as 55,200x.

If you doubted No Limit City’s creative talents before now … you won’t once you’ve played Das xBoot which is a truly original and fun game to play.

TRUE GRIT REDEMPTION

The final two No Limit City slots we’d like to introduce you two and both set in the Wild West. In fact, there are four such slots we can think of. Deadwood, Tombstone, Tombstone RIP, and this one, True Grit Redemption. They all have one thing in common – they are dark, twisted and take you to a place that movie Western’s like There Will Be Blood go. Unusual for a video slot, right?!

True Grit Redemption is built with six reels, each with up to five rows and 240 paylines or more in action at any one time. Once again the volatility is set to super-high, the RTP is a favourable 96.11% and the top payout is a sizable 20,200x.

Your objective this time is to unlock transforming symbols by matching those in the main reel with ones in a special reel running along the top. This creates more symbols of the same type and more chance of winning. There are also more xNudge Wilds and xWays splitting cells to create many more paylines.  And the two free spins rounds comes with Sticky Wild Multipliers.

In short, it’s spooky, treacherous, potentially hugely rewarding, and everything else we’ve come to expect from NLC.

TOMBSTONE RIP

Let’s finish on the most recent game in our list, a slot that has garnered huge attention from the slot community globally thanks to its absurdly high volatility and huge 300,000x top payout.

Tombstone RIP Slot

Tombstone RIP – Where Outlaws Hang!

If you choose to give this one a spin its worth having a play in demo mode before putting real dollars down. The features are complex and tricky to understand, but once you have it mastered it’s a great game to play.

From our other NLC recommendations you will already know xNudge Wilds and Splitting Wilds. The additional action here comes in the form of the Hang Em High and Boothill Free Spins rounds, where wilds and multipliers run riot across the reels with plenty of opportunities for big wins. In fact, cowboy symbols can come with outrageous 999x multipliers if you are very lucky – so you can see the potential here.

The best bit about Tombstone RIP? If you hit the Boothill Free Spins round, the entire sky turns blood red behind the reels and with every win, outlaws hang from a gallows. It sums up what this crazy game developer is all about – a preoccupation with dark and deadly scenes and delivering mesmerising big win sequences.

TO SUM UP

For those of you who hadn’t heard of No Limit City, that is just a brief glimpse into their mad world. They are one of the most original game developers out there and we are delighted to see that they have been granted their Ontario supplier license. If you enjoy slots play on the edge, then make sure you load up one of their games next time you are at an online casino. And have fun … if you can!
