ABOUT THIS SLOT
Reactoonz is one of Play n Go’s all-time great slots and one the like of which we have never seen again (until Reactoonz 2 came out that is). The action takes place on the strange planet that is home to the Reactoon, Gargantoon and his fellow alien creatures. There are six of them in total, some with two and some with one eye. The gameplay is classic grid slot style with symbols dropping in to form clusters that trigger pay outs and win cascades that’s a little reminiscent of classic social gaming phenomena like Candy Crush.
The graphics are colorful and cute and the soundtrack bounds along nicely in the background as you play Reactoonz. When you first play this slot it may feel a little complicated, but you soon get used to it, and you’ll be looking at for the big events that trigger when the Quantum Leap charges up.
RTP, VARIANCE AND PAYOUTS
Remember, this is a highly volatile game so don’t expect an easy-going, regular payout distribution. More likely you will experience long periods of low wins followed by short bursts of big prizes all triggered in thrilling win sequences of cascades, wilds and gargantoons! The top payout is a modest 4,570x per spin which is small in comparison to many of the big high variance games on release in the 2020s, but its still worth chasing, and the RTP is a standard 96%. In short, this is a game for serious high-risk players, so strap in tight and prepare for a rough ride.
SYMBOLS AND PAYTABLE
There is a total of 8 Aliens in the paytable. To score wins you need them to land in clusters of five or more at a time, formed by landing in adjacent positions horizontally and vertically on the grid. The Pink Alien leads the group, delivering a 750x bet for 15 or more icons in a winning cluster. Green, Orange and Blue Aliens will get you from 300x to 75x bet for the maximum cluster.
Watch out as well for the Vortex Wild that will sub in for all other symbols to form winning clusters.
GAMEPLAY AND FEATURES
Reactoonz is packed with additional features. There are three which are part of the base game and five more that only trigger when one of the Quantum Leap meters is fully charged. Charging it requires you to land consecutive win cascades. More on that in a moment.
Cascading Wins
This is a standard grid slot feature – for every win cluster, the winning icons are removed and new ones drop in to replace them. This adds another charge to the Quantum Leap meter and also gives another opportunity to land wins. The process repeats until no more clusters are formed.
Giantoonz Feature
If four matching icons land in a square they will form a Giantoon, which doubles any win if it is part of a cluster.
Fluctuation Feature
One of the low-value, one-eyed aliens is marked as a fluctuating symbol at the start of a round. If it then becomes part of a cluster, it will leave two Wilds behind when it is removed from the grid.
Quantum Leap Meter Features
To trigger any of the following FIVE features, you will need to fully charge any of your Quantum Meters.
1. Implosion Feature
Between 3 to 6 icons are transformed into Wilds and adjacent icons are destroyed to make room for more symbols to land on the reel grid.
2. Demolition Feature
The Demolition feature has one task only – to destroy all low-value one-eyed icons from the reels.
3. Incision Feature
Incision is there to insert a Wild icon in the middle of the reel grid and to draw two diagonal lines, which intersect. All symbols on these lines will be identical.
4. Alternation Feature
Alternation feature will pick one of the low value one-eyed aliens and all instances of the selected icon will be transformed into another symbol.
5. Gargantoon Feature
If you are lucky enough, you will make the Quantum Leap reach Gargantoon level itself. When that happens, a 3×3 Wild appears on the grid. For each successive cascade, the Gargantoon will divide, first into two 2×2 Wilds, and then into nine Wilds of regular size.
And then …
If you land a non-winning spin during Gargantoon’s stay on the reels, the Instability feature is activated, adding 4-8 extra Wilds on the reels.
OUR VERDICT
Reactoonz is one of the most action-packed slots we’ve ever encountered and it’s a lot of fun to play because there is always something going on in that grid. The opportunities for good win sequences are boundless once you get those meters charged and start triggering all the symbol upgrades.
